Different Types Of Braids in South Burlington, VT; Basic Three Strand, Fishtail, French Braid Hairstyles & More

Most people want to have ways that they can style their hair for many different reasons. You may want to get your hair up and looking fancy for a night out. It might also be a fun way to style your hair with a more modern and stylish look. One of the most common requested styles that women come in and ask for are braids. This might be for a wedding shoot, date night or just to go out with friends. Braiding your hair is something you can do when you get your hair done at a salon or you can start to learn to do it on yourself. There are lots of ways that you can braid your hair. The great thing is that each of the braids have their own unique look and feel as they are each done with a different technique. Hed2Toe Salon & Luxury Consignment Boutique outlines different types of braids you can do on your hair.

Basic Three Strand Braid

A standard three strand braid is something that just about anyone can learn. There are lots of people that will start with this type of braid when they are learning. This is a simple way to add a braid but you can make it more unique after the braid has been done. You start by combing the hair out and splitting it evenly into three strands. These strands will be worked over each other by taking one side and placing over the middle. Then the opposite side you would repeat. As you go the hair will start to create the braid that you will then secure with a hair elastic.

French Braid Styles

Once you have been able to do a three strand braid you can start to expand your technique and do a French braid. The great thing is that you use three strands but you start with a smaller portion at the top of the head. Then as you move the piece from one side across the middle you pull up hair from that side and add it to the piece. This will help to keep the braid along the head and create what is called a French braid. You want to make sure that the hair is taken over the top each time and keep the hair neat and combed out.

Fishtail Braid Hairstyle

Another type of braid that has gained a lot of attention is called a fishtail braid. The fishtail is another braid that you can do and is simple once you get the hang of it. The way that the fishtail works is different because the braid is worked with two pieces only. You take two pieces and keep them separate. You then take a small amount from the back of the piece and place it over the top of the opposite side. Then you repeat the process on the other side all the way down to the bottom of the hair. This will create a look that is similar to a fishbone look.
