If you are like many people, there are several products you use on your hair daily to get the style that you are looking for. From dry shampoos to heat protectants, there are some pretty amazing hair products that help you put your best locks forward. However, as amazing as all of these products are, they can start to buildup on your hair shaft. This can lead to your hair feeling heavy, lifeless and can even lead to dandruff issues. Hed2Toe Salon & Luxury Consignment Boutique is here to share some tips to help you remove this buildup from your hair to give it life back.
Apple Cider Vinegar for Hair Buildup
Maintaining the right pH balance with your hair is important. When you have product that is building up on the hair shafts, it can put that pH balance out of whack. Most people have a pH of about 4.5-5. Many of the products that you use on your hair have alkaline in them and can end up causing damage to your hair if they are left on the shaft too long. As you put that acidity back into the hair, it can restore shine and combat these alkaline levels. If you mix a 1:1 ratio of apple cider vinegar and water and apply it to your hair after washing, it will remove the produce that’s been building up. You need to make sure you are using apple cider vinegar that contain the “mother” to ensure that there are no sugars in your vinegar as this isn’t good for your hair. Also, make sure you rinse it well.
Baking Soda to Get Rid of Product Buildup on Hair
There is lots of talk of exfoliating your skin to keep it healthy, but many people forget that you should exfoliate your hair as well. Baking soda is a great tool in doing that. When you mix one tablespoon of baking soda with two cups of warm water, you can massage that in your wet, unwashed hair to remove product. Once you have rinsed it out, you can wash your hair like normal. This should only be done once a month as it can strip natural oils from your hair and dry it out.
Lemon Juice to Remove Hair Build Up
Lemon juice works a lot like apple cider vinegar, but it uses acidity to help your hair. It can remove any dandruff issues that you have with your hair as well. Lemon juice gives your hair that deep clean that you need without striping it too much of the natural oils and nutrients it needs. Combine the lemon juice of one lemon with half a liter of water and work it through your hair after shampooing. Once you have rinsed it off, condition the lower portion of your hair shaft.
